Years ago I was standing in the back of a camp service when a friend of mine leaned over to me and said, “Isn’t it an honor?” I acted like I knew what he was talking about, and just nodded. He then said, “Isn’t it an honor to get to serve these students, these students will be world changers.”
My friend’s heart was pure and blameless in what he was experiencing. He was viewing it as an honor to serve those students. His posture was out of gratefulness. We can easily get distracted with events, stages, lights, and music and miss the fact that we must keep a pure posture of honor. He viewed his role and opportunity as an honor to be standing there, at that time I didn’t. I took for granted what God was doing, and was caught up in the details forgetting the real purpose for why we were doing what we were doing.
As camp season nears I am praying I am able to maintain a heart like my friends. God is raising up a generation to do incredible things, and I pray I am able keep the posture of honor and serving on the forefront of my mind. I pray I am able to focus on the why before anything else. The why is simple: students connecting with their divine Creator and responding to His calling on their life.
Will you pray with me as we near camp season this year?
