A Challenge from Reckless Love

Over the past weeks I've started to really love this song. I love how it makes me feel and reflect on how God's love is for us and how he constantly pursues us. Yesterday, we were singing this song during Sunday morning service and I became convicted. Specifically about these lyrics of the song.

Oh, the overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine

There's no shadow You won't light up

Mountain You won't climb up

Coming after me

There's no wall You won't kick down

No lie You won't tear down

Coming after me

These words became convicting to me, because I was only thinking of myself. It's easy to hear a really good worship song and be comforted, and I think Jesus needs to bring healing and comfort to so many. However, I'm not the center of worship, or at least I shouldn't be. Jesus is the center. Yes, his love is this strong for you, however he also loves those on the other side of the planet with no access to the gospel with the same amount of love. Most often his way of kicking down doors, lighting up shadows, and chasing after us is through other people showing His love to us. Who are we showing a kind of love that brings light to the darkness? Who are we willing to climb mountains for to share the love of God with? What lies are we willing to bring comfort and truth to? Let us be a people that are focused on Jesus and His mission to reconcile people to Him.
